শনিবার (২৪ এপ্রিল) সন্ধ্যায় বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ের অতিরিক্ত মহাপরিচালক (অপারেশন) সরদার সাহাদাত আলী বলেন, ‘ট্রেন চলাচলে সব ধরনের প্রস্তুতি রয়েছে। সরকার ঘোষণা দিলে স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে যাত্রী পরিবহন করবে ট্রেন। তবে এখন পর্যন্ত এমন কোনো নির্দেশনা আসেনি।’
শনিবার সকালে ২৯ এপ্রিল থেকে বাস চালুর বিষয়টি সাংবাদিকদের জানান আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক এবং সড়ক পরিবহন ও সেতুমন্ত্রী ওবায়দুল কাদের। কিন্তু ওই দিন থেকে ট্রেন যাত্রী পরিবহন করবে কি না, সে বিষয়ে তিনি স্পষ্ট করে বলেননি।
ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেন, ‘দেশের চলমান লকডাউনের পর জনস্বার্থ বিবেচনায় স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে গণপরিবহন চালুর চিন্তা করছে সরকার। গণপরিবহন চালু হলে অর্ধেক আসন খালি রেখে আগে যে ভাড়া নির্ধারণ ছিল, সে ভাড়ায় যাত্রী পরিবহন করতে হবে। অতিরিক্ত ভাড়া নেয়া যাবে না।’

If the government announces, the train will transport passengers in compliance with the hygiene rules. But so far no such instructions have come. '
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told reporters that the bus would be launched from April 29 on Saturday morning. But he did not say whether the train would carry passengers from that day on.
Obaidul Quader said, "After the ongoing lockdown in the country, the government is thinking of launching public transport in compliance with the health rules in the public interest." When public transport is introduced, passengers will have to be transported at the fare that was fixed earlier, leaving half the seats vacant. No extra rent can be taken. '
